Music

We decided for the music that we wanted to use a song that was or had been popular recently, a pop song that was upbeat and suitable for children.
We searched for the UK Top 40 and looked through all the songs from the past few months. We then discussed some of the songs and went to YouTube to look further into these songs. From there, we also looked into specific artists and other popular music they had released.
We listened to these songs individually and thought about how they would sound with our opening sequence, and if they would fit the theme and what we were specifically looking for.
We looked particularly at Little Mix and their most popular songs as we decided that as their main audience consists of young teenage girls, most of their music is suitable for children-teens and happy as well as upbeat. We knew this would fit well with our product.
We shortlisted some songs and tried them playing with our sequence to see which looked and sounded best, before deciding to use ‘Wings’ by Little Mix.
We later decided that the lyrics didn’t completely fit with the theme of our TV show therefore we resolved this by using an instrumental, which offered more leniency when matching our editing with the soundtrack.

We had to contact the owners of the song that we used for our production. We used the instrumental version 'Wings' by Little Mix which is owened by the Syco Company (Simon Cowell) so we proceeded to contact the owners through the official Sony website. Above is the email that was written to the company in order to notify them of our intentions.
