DVD Cover Drafts
First Draft

Final Draft

Changes
We added the reviews and DVD information onto the back cover in a format which looked appealing and effectively pesented a complete layout which we could fully draft. In response to other comments received, we added our age ratings and broadcasting logo onto the bottom corners of our front cover, made several repositions of images and doodles to appear in a more effective format, added corrections to the images through the brightness, contrast, colour and levels to produce clearer images, and added a drop shadow and white glow to the descriptive text on the back cover. These improvements made our DVD cover meet much higher standards regarding suitability, professionalism and the requirements set by the brief.
Although we had not finished our draft, we wanted to gain feedback on our progress and found that although unfinished, our work was heading in the right direction. Our feedback commented on our background choice stating that the use of lined paper and doodles was original and creative, also liking the description of our show provided and the line-up of characters each with a doodle underneath specific to them. We asked whether they would prefer to see reviews or an episode list in the blank space on the back, and found that reviews were the preferred option. We also asked what details they would expect to see in the DVD information on the bottom of the back cover and then cross-referenced these responses with the usual conventions.
Our final feedback showed positive responses, stating that we had created a successful and professional product that would compete well with real media texts due to the unique and entertaining appearance which is highly suitable for our target audience. When asked to evaluate it's effectiveness when combined with our other products, it was highlighted that we had good brand identity due to our creative approach and the adapted use of general features and conventions to suit our target audience throughout.

We received highly positive comments within our feedback which suggested that we were developing our product in an effective way. When asked for any criticisms our audience may have, we found that the doodles - although interesting and well-liked - seemed to disract slightly from the main focus of the featured character. We also found that our target audience would like to see the main image on the front cover enlarged a bit to fully focus the design and layout.
Second Draft
Changes
In order to show consistency throughout our products, we replaced the original image of our 'sporty' character on the back cover with an image of our recast character. This allowed us to retake the image with the use of a prop as every character other than the main character holds a prop relevent to their characterisation, which was a nice addition to develop the overall appearance of our product. We also enlarged our main character on the front cover to fill the empty space, added a white glow to fade out the background and reduced the yellow tone of the image. These changes were enough to redirect the focus back to the desired areas and allowed for less distraction as the doodles are only part of the background and were not intended to take any emphasis away from other features but instead accentuate them accordingly.
