Main Title Design

While in a team meeting, we first created a rough story board whilst talking through our ideas so that we could plan the basic idea of our opening sequence, and the order of the clips. We decided to open with a shot of our main character, as this draws more attention to them and instantly suggests to the audience that this character is of importance to the show. We also thought that the corridor was quite a general location, hence why we decided to have our main character here, as the idea is that she doesn't fit into a specific stereotype. We planned the order of characters and locations and how they would appear in the sequence, placing the characters in a locatio that would be most suitable to their stereotypical behaviour.

We then filmed test shots of each scene and edited them together in a test sequence to se whether our idea would be suitable and effective for the production. This allowed us to pay attention to more specific details such as lighting in particular areas, practicality, camera angles and continuity.

Also in the team meeting, we first created a rough design layout for our magazine cover whilst talking through our ideas, stating what we found had been included in the magazine covers we had used for our inspiration (see Magazine Cover Inspiration). We followed the conventions of the magazines that we looked at by putting a large image of the main character in the middle of the cover, and having a clear title at the top of the cover. We also followed the conventions of general magazines by including banners and logos.

Within this team meeting, we also created a rough design layout for our DVD cover whilst talking through our ideas, stating what we found had been included in the DVD covers we had used for our inspiration (see DVD Cover Inspiration).

By including all of our desired conventions, we were then able to create a production draft which closely resembled this design throughout the drafting process.

While in a team meeting, we designed an initial draft of what we envisioned our main title to look like, using inspiration from existing title sequences that we looked at, such as 'Girl Meets World' which used a paper aeroplane throughout their sequence like we decided to include, and also incorperated this into their title image at the start and end of the sequence. We decided to replicate this idea and include a paper aeroplane design on our title to make it look more interesting for our audience, as well as relevant to the theme of the rest of the opening.
